  • Dr. Selvam holds a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Madras.
  • In 1999, he assumed office as Vice-Chairman of Vellore Engineering College (which later became VIT).

  • Under his leadership, the transition of Vellore Engineering College into VIT University in 2001 was carried out, and he became the first Pro-Chancellor of the University.
  • He held the distinction of being recognised in the Limca Book of Records (in 2005) as the youngest Pro-Chancellor of a university.
