Construction Begins as Capital City Development Gains MomentumAmaravati:The construction of the new Andhra Pradesh High Court building in Amaravati, the state capital, has officially begun, marking a major milestone in the revival of Amaravati’s capital city project. The High Court complex is being developed as a permanent, world-class judicial headquarters, reinforcing Amaravati’s status as the administrative and constitutional nerve centre of Andhra Pradesh.Foundation Works LaunchedThe project entered its execution phase with the commencement of raft foundation works, symbolising the restart of large-scale infrastructure development in the capital region. Senior officials from the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department and capital region authorities were present during the launch, underlining the government’s commitment to completing Amaravati’s core institutions.Iconic Design & World-Class FacilitiesPlanned as a modern and iconic structure, the new High Court complex will be constructed on about 42 acres of land in Amaravati. The building will have a built-up area of over 20 lakh square feet, designed to meet the long-term needs of the judiciary.Key features include:Basement + Ground + 7 upper floorsAround 50+ court halls, including exclusive courtrooms for the Chief Justice and senior judgesSeparate blocks for judicial, administrative, and advocate facilitiesModern chambers, libraries, record rooms, conference halls, and digital court infrastructureAdvanced security systems and public-friendly access planningEnvironment-friendly design with natural ventilation, landscaped courtyards, and energy-efficient systemsThe structure is expected to stand about 55 metres tall, making it one of the most prominent public buildings in the capital city skyline.Project Cost & FundingThe estimated cost of the High Court complex is around ₹1,048 crore. The project is part of a broader Amaravati infrastructure revival package that includes the Legislative Assembly, Secretariat buildings, trunk roads, utilities, and residential zones.Timeline for CompletionAccording to official projections, construction of the High Court building is targeted for completion by 2027, in sync with other key government buildings planned in Amaravati. Once operational, the High Court is expected to shift fully to the new premises, ending reliance on interim arrangements.Strategic ImportanceThe new High Court building is seen as a cornerstone project for Amaravati.
