Tirumala, September 15, 2026: The annual Salakatla Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala commenced with great devotion and grandeur. On the evening of the first day of the Brahmotsavams, Sri Malayappa Swamy, adorned as Vaikunthanatha, accompanied by Sri Devi and Bhu Devi, took a majestic procession through the four Mada Streets of Tirumala on the Pedda Sesha Vahanam, blessing the devotees.
The magnificent seven-hooded Pedda Sesha Vahanam is traditionally regarded by devotees as a representation of Adisesha, the divine serpent associated with Lord Vishnu. Seated majestically on Sesha, Sri Malayappa Swamy proceeded through the four Mada Streets, offering divine darshan to the thousands of devotees who had gathered. The streets of Tirumala reverberated with the chanting of “Govinda! Govinda!”
As the processional deities blessed the devotees from the Pedda Sesha Vahanam, the entire Mada Streets were filled with a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The vahana seva was conducted with great splendour amidst Vedic recitations, auspicious traditional music and the devotional chanting of Govinda Nama.
TTD Chairman Sri B.R. Naidu, Executive Officer Sri Ravichandra, Additional EO Sri Chi. Venkayya Chowdary, CVSO Sri Muralikrishna, and other officials participated in the celebrations.
As part of the Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams, various vahana sevas will be conducted every morning and evening throughout the festival. The grand processions are expected to provide a divine and spectacular experience for devotees arriving from across the country.
